Facebook has banned a developer who made a tool that allows facebook members to unfollow groups and friends all at once on the facebook app. Facebook has permanently ban the developer permanently from ever using facebook.
The name of this developer is Louis Barclay. He developed a browser extension known as “Unfollow Everything” which allows people using the facebook social media to cut less their news feeds by unfollowing their followers all at once.
You might not get what this means so let me explain this further. Unfollowing groups ,pages and friends on facebook of course is not bad but creating a machine or software that unfollow hundreds in a push of a button is what facebook is up against.
Meanwhile, after the “Unfollow Everything” tool went viral, a facebook user related how cut away the time he used to spend on facebook and how less addicting it was. He also added, “I had lost nothing”.

However, Facebook didn’t take this so lightly. The developer Louis Barclay was sent a cease-and-desist letter saying that he had violated facebook’s terms of service when he created a software that interfere with users interactions.
Facebook then went ahead to disable his facebook and Instagram accounts permanently while also at the same time demanding that he agrees to never again develop such tools that interact with facebook or any of its other services.
Apart from creating the Unfollow Everything tool for facebook users, the tool was being studied researchers at the University of Neuchâtel, Swiss, in order to study the effects news feed has on human happiness. He added he could not risk wrestling in court with such a rich and influencial company like Facebook. So to avoid troubles he just had to let it go.
